Wolfen NC400 is an entirely new ISO 400 colour film in 36-exposure cassettes — a genuinely rare thing, since new colour emulsions have not appeared regularly at ORWO, or anywhere else, in decades.

It is still made in Bitterfeld-Wolfen, on the same site where film production has been a tradition since 1910.

Underneath is a distinctive chemistry descended from the legendary Agfa colour formula — last used on the BAFTA-winning Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, the one with the Bryan Adams soundtrack.

NC400 is closely related to its sibling NC500, but finer grained, with more pronounced brilliance in certain colours. You will find the balance leans toward green tones with muted shadows. ORWO are not trying to imitate anything already on the market — this is an alternative, with different characteristics and a genuinely new palette.
